City of Okeechobee Launches New Citizen-Friendly Website
City of Okeechobee City Administrator Marcos Montes De Oca unveiled the new City of Okeechobee government website at last night’s City Council meeting. Following an extensive yearlong redesign process, the completely revamped cityofokeechobee.com, which is now live, provides visitors with easier navigation, a more modern and intuitive layout, an optimized search engine function that offers users a fast and simple way to access essential information, and is easily viewable across all desktop and mobile platforms.
“We’re excited about our ability to provide residents and visitors with easier access to information about the city that is important to them,” said City of Okeechobee Mayor Dowling Watford, Jr. “Our goal was to increase citizen engagement and provide greater accessibility to the public and we believe the additional content and functionality of our new website achieves those objectives.”
The new website is also compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility requirements, including features to accommodate people with disabilities that affect their hearing, vision or physical capacities.
“From easier access to government meetings and emergency services to permitting forms and how to do business with the city, the site is chock full of information that will be useful to our residents as well as businesses and visitors,” added City Administrator Montes De Oca.
The photographs throughout the website capture the authentic flavor of the city, its beautiful natural resources and quaint small town charm. The homepage includes user-friendly menu tabs and quick links to city resources for residents, businesses and visitors as well as a robust search function that provides easy access to programs and services as well as county, community and state links.
“We look forward to receiving feedback on the new City of Okeechobee website and to making continuous improvements and updates to it so that it remains a useful resource for the public,” Mayor Watford added.
The website address remains www.cityofokeechobee.com
